A Blue Christmas service is a special gathering designed for those who are feeling sorrow, grief, or loneliness during the holiday season. While Christmas is often portrayed as a joyful time of celebration, not everyone feels merry. Many people face difficult emotions due to loss, illness, family conflict, or personal struggles that make it hard to connect with the usual festivities. This service, often held close to the winter solstice—the longest night of the year—acknowledges that Christmas can be a painful time for those experiencing hardship.

The purpose of a Blue Christmas service is to offer a quiet, reflective space where people can come as they are and find comfort and hope. It provides a moment to recognize and name grief while honoring the promise of God’s presence in the midst of sorrow. Through gentle music, scripture, candle lighting, and prayer, and a meal the attendees are encouraged to release their burdens and find comfort in the assurance that God sees their pain. The service centers on the light of Christ, who came into a world of darkness and brings hope, healing, and peace.

A Blue Christmas will be held Saturday, December 21 at 5:00 at the Burd's home.  RSVP required
